Bulgaria one of Five Climbers in Web Search Popularity

Overseas property searches are up by another 1.2% for March, according to the latest data from the Rightmove & Moneycorp monthly search report.

Web search popularity rankings across the top twenty countries are higher for just five destinations - Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria and Austria - and either static or falling for the other fifteen. Some countries have fared badly with search popularity for long time favourite Australia dropping by over 17.9%, Canada by almost 13% and New Zealand by a massive 21.7%.

Commenting on the movers in the report Shameem Golamy, Head of Overseas at Rightmove said, "The summer sun in the UK has brought out the European property hunters. Buyers looking for reduced priced properties in traditional lifestyle and holiday hotspots have been notable during March. The current climate means that if you are a buyer, you are spoilt for choice amongst the hundreds of properties with huge price reductions available. Searches for properties in countries that have been downgraded on the international financial markets have also seen an increase."

This analysis fits with the experiences of property experts in Bulgaria, where increased levels of interest and activity from UK buyers have been highlighted in recent reports from Bulgaria Gateway and leading real estate agent, Bulgarian Properties. David Livingstone from Property Partners BG said, "With prices here now the lowest in Europe, a recovering economy and the market moving back into positive territory, it's no real surprise that Bulgaria is climbing again in popularity as a lifestyle destination - if you're looking to move overseas .." he continued ".. why wouldn't you choose Bulgaria?"

David Kerns, Dealing Manager at Moneycorp agrees, "The difficulties seen in certain eurozone economies .." he observed ".. have not dampened the interest from people in the UK looking to escape overseas. It seems to have had the opposite effect, in fact, with savvy investors here making the most of the vulnerable markets in Europe and the bargains to be had with property in those countries."
